Canadian horses, also called Le cheval Canadienne, are bred to look a certain way.
At a breed show for Canadian horses in a halter
class one horse may be placed above another for
having a more "Canadian" look than another.
Some things Canadian breeders try to achive
in a horse might be:
-a rectangular head(rather short,angular and held high)
-large flat forehead
-bright and straight eyes
-small mouth with firm jaws
-large,lean cheeks
-Thick mane and tail!(In some shows this may be the difference between a 2nd or a 1rst!)
Most people think the ideal height of Canadians is 15-16hh but they may be shorter or taller.
Canadian horses are known for being sociable, bright and sensible.
Canadian horses are also inquisitive, friendly and have interesting personalities.
Canadians do not require special care and do well in cooler climates.
Canadians also perform well in most horse sports such as: dressage, jumping,
hunting, cross country, various harness combinations and farm work.
